Growing up I have been hearing this statement - Age is just a number from both young and old, in the movies, conversations, TV shows and so on.
Something within me just strongly disagree with this statement and I wondered within myself
is age really just a number?
because of this I began to make enquiries about this statement.
I discovered that some were saying it based on its context for example age is not a determinant of wealth, wisdom and achievements.
Some say age is just a number because they see young people achieve great things that some people old enough to be their father have not achieved.
Others say it bacause some people see age as a very big thing and even though they have not done much with their lives but want a maximum respect because they are older.
When it comes to the matter of respect : respect is not just a thing of age.
It is not just necessarily about the oldest only it is also about the young ones too.
That is why respect is reciprocal.
The fact that you are older does not give you the jurisdiction to cheat, bully, abuse, underestimate, maltreat, hurt those younger than you.
Repect everyone. The rule of What goes around comes around also applies to respect.
Two reasons that shows why age is not just a number:
1. Age is priceless : Thank God for the advancement in technology actual number figures are literally bought for the creches to learn faster.
No matter how irresponsible a man is the years spent on Earth by being irresponsible will result in something called experience
That is what differentiates people in many areas of life. For example football -
In footaball there are many talented footballers but the best amongst them are the experienced ones. Who have gone through thin and thick in football.
In some working places one of the qualifications is the working experience
Experience takes time usually years and as years pass by experience then works together with age.
As you grow in experience you increase in age to be a better version of you. That is why education changes and transforms you.
The truth is the outcome of your life then, now or later determines how well you have lived it or will live it
2. Age grows perfect with maturity: One beautiful thing about increasing in age is growth
We grow to be wiser, stronger, and better version of ourselves. Growth is obvious in our lives when we learn and apply what we have learnt as we grow.
Even the Bible supports this in 1 Corinthians 13:11 "It's like this: When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I grew up, I put away childish things." NLT
There are things you can't handel well until you have grown even if it for you. That is why there are classes in this life like School.
It might take days/months to achieve goals but it takes years to achieve a dream.
Note: not every adult is mature and not every child is immature in character. This depends on how well they have learnt and grow with what they have learnt.
Is age really just a number?
